WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush plucked his long-stalled nomination of John Bolton for U.N. ambassador out of the hands of the Senate on Monday, naming the controversial nominee to the post through a recess appointment.
Bush said the job at the United Nations was "too important to leave vacant any longer, especially during a war and a vital debate about U.N. reform."

Aaaaand I quit.

Crimeny, I got work tomorrow, why am I still awake?
Note to self: tomorrow finish article on Bolton's UN appointment (*RAGE*) and then promptly spend the rest of the day looking for the right wedding present for step-neice.
I have nooo idea where to start. I'd ask Noel or Will but they both have their plates full dealing with the actual wedding...and I should be able to handle this dammit. I will reach down into my genetic code and pull out those long dormant elaborate gift giving genes I'm SURE my mother passed down to me. I can shop for myself no problem, when it comes to other people...not so much. And this is a wedding, it needs to be nice. And serious. I can't buy her a vibrating Harry Potter wand and make lewd jokes, no.
What does that leave me with though? Spoons? I'm not getting her spoons!
...
I'm getting worked up over imaginary spoons. Clearly...I need to go to bed.
I forsee a Starbucks raid before work. Yup.

I will never get through this job sans stress while Bush is in office. I've decided.
I wonder if I suddenly write my articles drunk just to get through them if Steve will notice. No? Yes? Is it worth it? I'm weighing my options people.
I'm bringing my own coffee into the office tomorrow if I expect to be fair about this peice.
C'mon God, send me a Democrat. While I still have a career please, thank you.
Maybe I just need to get some...thing...anything...><...Yes, love life? DOA.

PHILADELPHIA, June 23 - President Bush said on Wednesday for the first time that the United States should "learn from the experience" of countries like Uganda in fighting AIDS and embraced the use of condoms to prevent its spread, a sensitive issue among conservative groups that have fought the adoption of any strategy that does not focus on abstinence.
Must. Control. Urge. To. Shout. NO DUH YOU CONSERVATIVE FUCKER!!!!!!
Oops, couldn't control it. Oh well.
Currently writing editorial on how much teaching Abstinence in school doesn't work in reply to bastard talking this shit in my hometown.
:D This will be fun.
Oh also, anyone wanna go see Faranheit 9/11 on Friday? I got tickets since I need to write about it. Woohoo.

Ugh. I have to write an article on all this recent...mess happening in Iraq and Rumsfield and the contractor who was beheaded...
Yeah I'm going to be putting this article off for as long as possible. It's all so horrific. >< Hate this stupid war. Want to go back to writing articles about elections and Emily's List and the Gay movement...
But I can't quite pick what I write or what goes on in the world so...*shrug*.

Damn you, I have to get this peice done by six and I need one hell of a caffeine boost to do so.
So the ladies in the mail room were all squeeish today about the new guy being oh so very dreamy. Squaking like a bunch of gossipy birdies. I just wanted to see if I got a letter back from the Senators office about doing an interveiw and had to stand there for forty minutes while they discussed this new guys many positive attributes.
BAH. From now on I stick to e mail.

Easter Sunday was spent with my two youngest brothers. We had an inpromptu easter egg hunt that spanned the whole apartment building. I thought my super was gonna be pissed because one of the eggs got lodged in a heating vent but he shrugged it off to being a holiday and sent us on our way.
Jed's back at Columbia and Leo's back in Philadelphia staying with Simon since we've all decided he can't live with Mom all by himself.
Anyway...have work to be doing. Have to write up an article about this girl from Texas who was killed in Iraq yesterday. She had two sisters who are also stationed in Iraq and now the parents in a 'Saving Private Ryan' move are requesting that their remaining children be shipped home. I hate doing articles like this. Numbers and statistics I can spit out, but putting faces to them...it's tough to write.
If Bush wins this election at the rate he's going--Weapons of Mass Destruction? Where?--pigs will have flown and hell will be officially frozen over. Just saying.
It's APRIL right? So why is the weather absolute crap? I woke up this morning expecting what we've been spoiled with lately and...no. Had to switch from cute short skirt and strappy heeled sandals to pants suit and pumps. BAH! Sick of winter and cold weather and RAIN.
*shakes fist at sky* Do anything? No? Faaaantastic.
Did everyone know, by the way that Snapple has been the official beverage of New York City for a bit now? I was unaware. Jed pointed it out to me. I hate Snapple. It couldn't have been...Diet Vanilla Coke or something? As a New Yorker and a soda drinker I doth protest. :P
Oh and Noel, to answer your question, no I don't know anything bout the new guy. For once I'm painfully out of the loop. See what covering a war and brooding over failed relationships can do? Bah! Must reclaim position on top of gossip totem pole! I'll snoop round tomorrow and report back dear.

I feel like such a shit for stomping about an tossing a hissy fit over nothing when BAM Will has major family shit he has to deal with. Poor guy. His brothers a jackass. And Noel's going to miss Will...
So I should really not be thinking about me when other people have crappier things to deal with. Not really very fair.
Noel, sorry for being a snappy whiney mopey bitch. Forgive your sister?
And no, still not going to Mom's for Easter. Simon called today and tried to sway me but...uhuh hell no. Right now it looks like Simon, Rob, Helen, Helen's asshole fiance with Mom and Dad in Philadelphia. Will call Jed and Leo and try to get them to come up here. Do some tiny easter thing.
Anyway...I have stuff I should be doing. Articles that need writing. And I need to tell Steve I'm not taking the next Iraq job. Not flying out for a while, nope. Need to grow roots back here in NYC.
Alrighty, it's a plan.

Lia and I had a fight. Over...stupid things. Because today Steve told me I'm heading to Iraq to cover some shit...I just got back from DC. So Lia launched into this thing about how I work too hard and it's rediculous that the paper is always sending ME places...and I kinda snapped about how it's my job and not everyone can have a cushy therapist jobs and then she was hurt and said I have no CLUE about her job so who am I to talk...
Long story short, she left in a huff and now I just...don't know what to do. ><
I'm kinda brain dead about it now. It'll hit me for real when I wake up tomorrow...now I'm just...numb.

Al Gore announced he's supporting Dean.
Ouch, major bitch slap to Leiberman.
It's gonna end up being Dean, I know it. I kinda like Gephart even though Lia says he looks deformed. He's not deformed...he just has too much forehead I think. Not that this is what ANYONE should base their votes on. :P
And fuck this Defense of Marriage Act. All I have to say on the subject, yup. Assholes...
I should try to wrangle an interview with Leiberman or something. Ask just how much Gore's actions sting, it's interesting. Even if Lia says HE looks like a troll doll.
That's it, no more CSPAN when she's present...

Well isn't everyone just in the Christmassy mood? Hee. I've been busy batting off constant requests from Mom to come to The Green Hill for Christmas. I'd rather stay in New York thank you.
I've actually been invited to spend the holiday with Lia's family but it'll be a cold day in hell before I tell her THAT. Not to mention I'd rather not spend all of Christmas at a vet's because my sister's lap dog decided to eat the poinsetas. >< Boy was that a Jolly Holiday...

Don't care if Steve gave me a LOOK, I wanted to come to the office in costume. And it's not much of a costume. Just a pair of wings and a little wand. Hee.
Bigger costume is for tonight. Lia and I are going to a veiwing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. :D I'm Janet at the end and she's...oh hell that other chick with the hair whose name I can never remember. Hee. Should be fun. If my feather boa ever stops shedding...I think Kennedy tried to eat it.
Oh!

And now I am off to spread my fairy dust all over Noel's cubicle...mwahaha...gotta love glitter...

And I can mock yours. Hee hee.
Plus I need you advice desperately. Yes I have an alterior motive, no you should not be surprised. :/ Lia wants me to meet her family on Friday. Is it too quick? I'm FREAKING out. Bah.

The American President, TV |

This article can kiss my ass.
Lia offered to help me but I refused, knowing she meant well. Lia's area of expertise is psychology, not politics.
Me: I dunno if you'd know what I'm tryign to talk about. Lia: Probably not. I was only offering so it looked like I was being a good girlfriend and sympathetic to your struggles. Me: It worked, you can stope now. Lia: I'll get you a coke and order chinese. Me: I love you. Lia: Easy to please, you.
Right. So over Lo Mein and DVC I'm trying to write about Arnold and the silly California shpeal. Mom called me yesterday and told me she and Dad attended a party for Arnold. Oh joy. *rolls eyes* I'm ashamed my parents are Republicans.
Lia's on the couch with Kennedy watching TV...
...The American President is on. O.O
Lia just said she never saw it.
I need to go...
